Bereavement Counselling
Grief is a normal response to the death of a loved one. However, when grief overwhelms you and impacts on your capacity to live your daily life, it may be time to seek support. I can help you find a way to acknowledge your loss, whilst re-entering the world and finding meaning again. Counselling for grief has a particular style, where we are not seeking a solution but more to recognise how the person you have lost touched your existence. Learning to live without their physical presence and find enjoyment again is a bumpy journey we can navigate together.
Pregnancy Loss
Miscarriage and pregnancy loss is still little discussed or understood by most people who have not experienced it. When this grief goes unrecognised, it can be hard to maintain relationships and you can feel isolated from those who may have been your supports at other times. If you have experienced a pregnancy loss at any gestation, the anxiety around becoming pregnant again can be overwhelming. I can work with you to identify ways of coping with your worries and manage relationships with those who don’t understand your loss.
Domestic and Family Violence
If you have experienced family violence, you will know that even if you are no longer in that situation and are safe, you are forever impacted by the experience. Many people say the effects of emotional abuse, manipulation, gaslighting and control go deeper than the visible injuries. I can help you understand the tactics your abuser may have employed to isolate and disempower you. We can work together to build your confidence and independence so you can live your chosen life in peace.
Life transitions
As we move through life, we encounter many changes in ourselves and those around us. Some of these will be less welcome than others, especially those we have no control over. Events such as becoming a parent, losing a job, relationship breakdown, menopause and retirement can bring unexpected and complicated emotions which are hard to wrangle. We can work together to help you make sense of what is happening and find ways to articulate how it’s impacting you to others around you. Together we can seek a meaningful and hopeful way to live in your new reality.
